This is the prime time of year for Fantasy Football Dynasty Leagues to be opening up. We had taken a look at three of the Top Three Dynasty Prospects at QB according to various Fantasy site rankings. Now, it’s time to take a look at the results of the Jabberhead Poll to see what you thought of them…
- Tom Brady (37%, 50 Votes)
- Peyton Manning (31%, 42 Votes)
- Tony Romo (19%, 26 Votes)
- Other (13%, 17 Votes)
Total Voters:135
Over the course of this Poll the lead changed between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning several times. Brady broke away over the stretch.
Considering the Poll was for the Top Fantasy QB for 2008, I’m curious about the 17 votes for Other. I understand that views can vary but I’m interested to hear who thinks that another QB will top out both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Is it Carson Palmer? Big Ben? Drew Brees? Drop some comments in the box below, we want to hear what you have to say!
As we go into our Fantasy Football coverage TJ Ford, our own Dudley Do-Right from up north, has started putting out the Dynasty rankings. You can check out Quarterback HERE.
Keeping this topic interactive with the readers, we invite you to do some rankings here as well. Click and drag how you would rank the following QB’s for a Fantasy Football Dynasty. Keep it in consideration that you want them over the course of a few years. With a majority of leagues starting 12 QB’s we will list 15 for those that vary. If you think someone else should be in the Top 15, please leave it in a comments below. You can then view the consensus rankings as well.

Baltimore Ravens
Needs: QB, WR, CB, DL, LB, RB
Baltimore suffered a serious fall from grace last year after they competed with Cincinnati for bottom feeder in the AFC North; a year removed from winning the division with an impressive 13-3 record. In the wake of Steve McNair’s retirement and a new coaching staff, a new QB is at the top of the wish list along with numerous offensive playmakers. The Ravens usually stout defense is aging rapidly and does not have a backup plan if Bart Scott and/or Ray Lewis were to leave via free agency in the upcoming year.
1.18 - Joe Flacco QB Delaware
2.24 - Ray Rice RB Rutgers
3.08 - Tavares Gooden LB Miami
3.23 - Tom Zbikowski S Notre Dame
3.36 - Oneil Cousins OG Texas-El Paso
4.07 - Marcus Smith WR New Mexico
4.34 - David Hale OT Weber State
6.40 - Haruki Makamura S Cincinnati
7.08 - Justin Harper WR Virginia Tech
7.33 - Allen Patrick RB Oklahoma
Draft Grade: C+
Comments: Huge misses by the new regime in Baltimore. Joe Flacco is a colossal reach at 18; especially when you already have a flat-footed, big-armed QB in Kyle Boller. Ray Rice was a luxury pick for a team that should not be drafting luxury picks. I like the skills that Rice brings to the table but the second round was too early to draft a spell RB for Willis McGahee. McGahee is be around for another couple years at least; Rice was not the way to go in the second round. I like the pick of Tavares Gooden; it is key that Baltimore has a backup plan should one of the their ILBs walk next year. Solidification of the offensive line continues in Baltimore with the picks of Cousins and Hale. Also like the fact that the Ravens are not content with Clayton and Williams as starters when Mason hangs it up and drafted a couple WRs. Why not defensive lineman or cornerbacks were not chosen I do not know. Samari Rolle and Chris McAllister are getting up there in age and the Raven defensive line could use some help. In a draft deep in both positions, the Ravens missed the boat.
Cincinnati Bengals
Needs: DE, DT, LB, S, WR
The Cincinnati Bengals always seem to have off-the-field problems that they have to deal with every year. Between arrests, coach-players relationships, holdouts and injuries, there is always something to talk about in Bengalville in the summer. This year it is the release of Chris Henry, the off-the-field problems of Ahmad Brooks and the ongoing saga of CJ and his trade demands. On the plus side, suspended LB Odell Thurman was reinstated giving a boost to one of the most depleted units in the NFL but defensive end Justin Smith left town leaving a huge hole on the line. The Bengals need to fix their defense first and foremost.
1.09 - Keith Rivers LB USC
2.15 - Jerome Simpson WR Coastal Carolina
3.14 - Pat Sims DT Auburn
3.34 - Andre Caldwell WR Florida
4.13 - Anthony Collins OT Kansas
5.10 - Jason Shirley DT Fresno State
6.11 - Corey Lynch S Appalachian State
6.41 - Matt Sherry TE Villanova
7.37 - Angelo Craig DE/LB Cincinnati
7.39 - Mario Urrutia WR Louisville
Draft Grade: D
Comments: What were they thinking? Keith Rivers was a solid start and will provide them with a defensive anchor but Jerome Simpson is a major-league reach with guys like Limas Sweed, DeSean Jackson and Malcolm Kelly on the board. Pat Sims was a solid pick as a run-stuffer in the middle but then they go back to the well twice more for WRs. Caldwell was a better value pick than Simpson for sure but WR wasn’t necessary after the second round. They didn’t address DE and their defense will struggle because of it. A pass rush duo of Robert Geathers and Antwan Odom will scare nobody and a team with a young secondary will be exposed. Cincinnati needed to rebuild their defense through the draft and failed miserably. They overdrafted WR to prove a point to Chad Johnson and will likely only reinforce that he wants out as he wants to play for a winner; Cincinnati is not that team.
Cleveland Browns
Needs: LB, CB, RB, OL
Like Minnesota, Cleveland used the lion’s share of their picks to make their splash before the draft by trade. Brady Quinn was drafted last year via trade with the Cowboys. Defensive linemen Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers were both traded for in deal involving Browns picks. However, the Shaun Rogers deal included the outspoken Leigh Bodden, leaving a hole at cornerback. Cleveland can score but their defense is lacking despite having many young playmakers. A good draft could add the final pieces to the puzzle.
4.05 - Beau Bell LB UNLV
4.12 - Martin Rucker TE Missouri
6.24 - Athyba Rubin DT Iowa State
6.25 - Paul Hubbard WR Wisconsin
7.24 - Alex Hall DE/LB St Augustine
Draft Grade: B
Comments: I like the moves that Cleveland made in making offseason trades. Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers should provide pass rush pressure from the line as well as sucking up blocks so that young LBs D’Qwell Jackson and Leon Williams can make plays at the line of scrimmage. Adding a rover type LB in Beau Bell that can play inside and outside in Crennel’s 3-4 scheme is another quality acquisition. After that, it gets dicey. I get hedging your bet on a key piece of your offense in Kellen Winslow by getting Rucker and I know that the 6th and 7th round choices are rarely expected to become starters but completely neglecting the cornerback position in the draft is a huge risk. When you play Carson Palmer and Ben Roethlisberger twice a year each, your secondary better be up to snuff or your offense will need to hang 25+ points on the board to win. I would have liked to see another pay it forward kind of deal with Cleveland trading a 2009 pick to get back into the second round for a cornerback.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Needs: OG, OT, DL, WR, CB
Pittsburgh finds itself in the same spot as Seattle circa 2006. They have lost an all world guard in Alan Faneca but are an otherwise stout running team. Offensive line needs to be the focus of this draft for the Steelers. Max Starks would make a capable guard should the Steelers draft tackle or could remain outside. Ben Roethlisberger has also made no secret of the fact that he wants a new redzone target similar to former Steeler Plaxico Burress. I guess he is tired of throwing TDs to third string TEs. Funny, so are fantasy owners.
1.23 - Rashard Mendenhall RB Illinois
2.22 - Limas Sweed WR Texas
3.25 - Bruce Davis DE UCLA
4.31 - Tony Hills OT Texas
5.21 - Dennis Dixon QB Oregon
6.22 - Mike Humpal LB Iowa
6.28 - Ryan Mundy FS West Virginia
Draft Grade: C+
Comments: Way too many luxury picks by the Steelers and not enough beef on the line. The Steelers won’t be able to replace Faneca from within and the running game will suffer as a result. Also, Ben Roethlisberger will continue to be sacked much more than any Steeler QB ever would have been as evidenced last year. I like Mendenhall and Sweed and I believe that the Steeler offense will be an impact one in a few years but offensive line help in needed. Slash 2, aka Dennis Dixon, is an interesting pick. I’m not sure what Tomlin has planned for him. I would have liked to have seen a trade up to get the falling uber-guard Brandon Albert or at least a tackle like Jeff Otah. Tony Hills isn’t going to save the world in Pittsburgh.
