Norm Chow given the boot
January 15, 2008 by Lee

Jeff Fisher and the Titans have given the boot to Norm Chow after a few years as their Offensive Coordinator.
“I appreciate all of the hard work and contributions he made to the organization during his time here, but I have decided to go in a different direction and will start the process of finding a new offensive coordinator,” Fisher said in the statement.
Wow. We didn’t see this one coming. Makes sense though after only throwing for 9 TD’s this season. The Titans ranked 21st in yards and 22nd in points. How bad is that for the Titans? 2007 was the first time the franchise has ranked below #20 in both categories since they were the Houston Oilers in 1994. The time before that was 1985…ouch. That’s hard to argue with Norm. Even Billy Joe Tolliver had 6 TD’s in ten games that year.

I am very interested to see if a different offensive coordinator can make Vince Young into a real NFL quarterback. Somehow, I have my doubts.
I think I’m a little biased. I was living in Austin during their title run and I was amazed watching that guy. I think if Rex Grossman, Tavaris Jackson, and others can call themselves NFL QB’s, than Vince Young can. I don’t think we have seen near the best from him yet.
I hope you are right, for sure. In college, the man blew me away and I thought he would have done the same for me with his NFL career by now, at least a little. And, I guess, the fact that he is a winner when he obviously has so much to work on does blow me away somewhat. I just hope he does not become another Michael Vick (the player, not the thug; Vince Young is a much, much better human being, it seems obvious) who has all the flash, but very little of the substance.
