Strengths: Blazing speed and outstanding coverage abilities. Premium ball-hawking skills. Good football instincts makes him rarely get into a situation in which he cannot recover from.
Concerns: Injuries have plagued him this year. Ankle injuries slowed him down for a number of games and a thumb injury late in the year sidelined him for three games.
Comments: Far and away, the best safety prospect in the draft, Phillips has the speed and coverage abilities to play corner but also has the size and big play ability of a top safety. The team that drafts Phillips will be getting a leader and play-maker for their secondary and a future pro-bowler in my opinion.

I hope he will land in NO with number 10…Saints need some playmakers in their defensive side and he will have immediately impact in first season. also it will open up more plays in the box for SS Harper. Then they can pick up some good corner (Rodgers-Cromartie, Lee) or DT, LB like Okam, Crable. They are 3 pieces away from super bowl, specially in NFC.
Thanks for the comment Dave. I’m a Saints fan myself and I hope they defense. I was really hoping for a stud LB leader but it doesn’t look like it’s going to fall that way with the prospects this year.

Many have the Saints going LB at 1.10. I personally don’t think that Dan Connor or Keith Rivers are worthy of a top half 1st round selection. LB is a need for the Saints but I think going with an Erin Henderson or something to that degree in the second round will do more towards helping their defense than going LB-DB. Thanks for the comments David. Cheers.
