Oooo Big Bad Burress Prediction
Day 10 waiting for the Super Bowl. Oh how I long for the days when we only had one week to wait between the conference title games and Super Sunday. They now give us six bonus days of the media blowing up little things.
To the point…Plaxico Burress thinks that the Giants will beat the Patriots 23-17…and he said it out loud. OH MY GOD! Can you believe he said that? Who does he think he is?
Come on people, Super Bowl III was almost forty years ago when there was a big deal made of some Quarterback saying they were going to win the game while sitting next to the pool. I’m going to have to make a point of keeping track of all the bold “predictions” made by players next year. They really area dime a dozen, wouldn’t you say? They are usually forgotten within a week if they don’t make too much of an idiot of themselves in the process.
“I am going to say it again, the goal is to win the football game,” Burress said. “It is not to come here and just play. The goal is to come here and win. That’s why we are here.”
What the hell is he supposed to say? Is he supposed to say, “We really don’t stand a chance in this game…I mean have you people looked at who we are playing. We are playing the undefeated Patriots and we never should have made it past the Packers. My QB is a time-bomb who has been overachieving compared to the rest of his career and he is bound to just implode in this game. You people write this down….Plaxico Burress says that the Patriots will demolish us 47-3.”
Bottom line is the Giants are the last team to go blow for blow with the Patriots and have more reason to be confident than any other team right now…for one they are still playing. What did Burress do in that game that he should have any confidence at all? Our friends at Statbeast say he only had four receptions. Two of those were for TD’s and he had 84 yards.
So what do the other Giants have to say about this? They can’t be happy, right? Why would Burress selfishly let the Patriots and world know that they intend to attempt to win the game? Let’s listen in…
“Are we supposed to say we’re going to lose? What do you want us to say?” Antonio Pierce said yesterday at Super Bowl Media Day. “We want to win the game. We’re not here to be second-best to anybody. We came here to win a game. If you want to consider that a guarantee, it’s not. We’re not going to think negative and say we’re going to lose and have the same perception everybody else has about us.”
Huh?
“We damn sure didn’t fly all this way from New York to just hand them a football game,” Brandon Jacobs said. “People are acting like we’re supposed to just come out here and hand them the game.”
Don’t look now people but it appears that the rest of the Giants may not intend to lay down either. Is it possible that they may play this game and it isn’t decided in the two weeks leading up to it? It appears so.
While your here, vote in the poll over there in the sidebar on who you think will win. Maybe if you pick the Giants you’ll be all over the news!—>
