Fantasy Football | Who the hell do I keep?

Since Football Jabber started a couple months ago we have not just had a downright discussion on fantasy football like we used to at our old home. Let’s open it up and field some questions on fantasy football keepers and dynasty players you may have questions on.

Is Tom Brady the QB to have this year? Have a player your thinking of trading in a league? Keeper time is up, wanna know who you should cut ties with? Throw them down in the comment box. FB Jabber guys and readers alike will throw out their 2 cents.

  1. What are your thoughts on Ronnie Brown? I could keep him as an 8th-round pick next year in our two-player keeper league. Is it worth the risk?

  2. Ronnie Brown is coming off of a major knee injury. RBs returning from ACL injuries are rarely as effective as they once were the first year back. Their ability to cut and juke is impacting not only by the strength of their knee but also their mental state about the knee. In addition, rumor has it that Parcells wants to incorporate Ricky Williams and Lorenzo Booker into the offense more; likely in an effort to ease Ronnie back into the lineup.

That being said, Brown was the best RB in the league through the first seven weeks of the season. You could have worse players as your keepers especially at an 8th rd pick price. Who else is a suitable keeper should you opt to shy away from Brown and what pick would you lose if you kept them? Is it a PPR league?

  3. My other options:

Willis McGahee (1st round, 12th pick)
    Tom Brady (2nd round)
    Willie Parker (2nd round)
    Brandon Jacobs (7th round)

Non-PPR league, and we only are allowed to keep two players. They move up one round every year, so, for instance, Ronnie Brown would be a 7th round keeper next year if I kept him in the 8th this year.

  4. Ronnie is definitely worth keeping for an 8th-round pick unless you have a very strong third candidate you would rather have. I agree with TJ that he won’t be as effective, but his value should be higher than 8th round. Ricky Williams probably won’t ever be the same as he was pre-California dreamin’, and Booker is just a spell back for the two of them.

Not to steal the topic away but throwing something else out there, which young QBs are worth keeping for next year? Jay Cutler? Vince Young? Trent Edwards? What do you guys think?

  5. Of the three young quarterbacks you mentioned, I really like Jay Cutler next year. But I am not sure I would keep Vince Young or Trent Edwards. Young is a borderline keeper based on his potential, but Edwards is too raw and unproven to be a keeper just yet.

I have to agree with Hazey here. I have a Dynasty team riding on Young right now and if I had to chose between him and Cutler I think I would take Cutler. I’m a VY fan but “potential” isn’t doing it for me right now…lol. Let’s just say with VY leading my team I’m looking for QB help in that league this offseason.

I don’t know that I would keep a Bills QB right yet. There was never a Jauron Qb I would have thought about keeping in Chicago either. I’m a little bitter about how the Bills QB’s throwing to Lee Evans let me down last year though.

I had him on my fantasy team this past season. What a disappointment.

  9. Well i can keep one player who should I keep? Eli, Addai, or Ryan Grant?

Preston, it would of course depend on your scoring system but in most it would be Addai without question.
