Brett Favre to Tampa Done Deal? | NFL News
August 6, 2008 by Lee
I like to think that we have done a pretty good job in not jumping in the Favre talks so far. There appears to be word that is worth mentioning though this morning…If a guy can retire and spend his days playing golf, why can’t he retire and spend his days playing football? It’s something to do with that big check, right? Anyway, it sounds as if Brett Favre is going to be retiring to sunny Florida and doing just that. Reports are that Favre has given the go ahead on a trade to Tampa Bay...
The Tribune has learned Favre will not stand in the way of a trade from Green Bay to Tampa Bay and the deal is likely to be finalized within 24 hours.
The chances of the trade unraveling are remote and Favre has indicated to the Bucs directly that he is willing to change teams after 16 years of growing his legend in Green Bay.
Although Steven Jackson is older in people years, it’s like time stood still in contract years in St. Louis.
According to a team official reached Tuesday night, Jackson remained a no-show. As a result, Jackson’s 2008 season will not count as an “accrued” year in terms of eligibility for free agency. Players under contract must report at least 30 days before the overall NFL opener for the season to count as an accrued year. That 30-day deadline came and went Tuesday.
Pierre Thomas could steal thunder and carries from Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister in New Orleans. He is getting a lot of looks, including from Coach.
“I think he has good vision and good balance,” Payton told the Baton Rouge Advocate. “He’s competing for a lot of touches and doing well. We have a lot of confidence in him as a runner and it’s something that he’s demonstrated consistently now.”
Dan Parr at Pro Football Weekly pleads the case for the Falcons to go with Chris Redman over Matt Ryan.
The San Francisco Gate is running a daily progress report on the QB participants. By reading how the writer described everyone’s INT’s, I would say he is in favor of Shaun Hill.
Larry Fitzgerald is a pretty good WR. Larry Fitzgerald wants to be a better WR. That should scare opposing CB’s.
“He was hightailing it down the field, and maybe that’s something he wouldn’t have done consistently in the past,” Ken Whisenhunt said, “but he’s really working on those things now. He’s working to be a better receiver.”
Michael Turner is looking at 300 carries in Atlanta…quite a jump from his 228 on his career up until now.
How cute is that? Rookie RB, Kevin Smith, has predicted a playoff win in Detroit.
Kyle Orton gets the first opportunity to make the Bears fans cringe when the offense takes the field Thursday.
Watch the waiver wire light up for this little fella after Herm calls him “the favorite guy in camp right now.” Chiefs Running Back, Dantrell Savage is turning heads. (Note: I’m not telling you guys to get him off the wire because chances are that he will only be returning kicks…watch your league mates grab him. In fact, copy just the quote from Herm and send it to them)
Willie Parker back in the mix at the goaline again for the Steelers? If he has his way…
If you can keep score in the Jets QB race by how many jerseys the fans wear at camp the score is Pennington 19-Clemens 1
