Tom Brady out for the Friggen season? Meet Matt Cassel

We know that the Patriots like to play trick or treat with the injury status of it’s players.  Could it be that Tom Brady is out for the season or is it Wild Bill having someone play a joke on the world?  Yahoo Sports is jumping on it saying he is likely out…

From Yahoo! Sports:

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a source familiar with the injury.

While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, two sources indicated it involved serious damage to the knee.

“It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.”

Of course we have to wait and see what really comes from it.  It seems lately that the media is getting more and more competitive in trying to get the word out…so much that Chris Mortenson sometimes looks like an idiot.

Here is a little Matt Cassel trivia for ya…did you know that before coming into the game today that including his 4 year career at USC he has a total of 42 completions out of 72 attempts.  Yes that is over seven years, four at USC and three in New England.  To think people are worried about Aaron Rodgers not having experience…

I am now on suicide watch!!! You know my first instinct is very reminiscent of wk 2 in 2001, Bledsoe went down after getting jacked and heard the report on the sunday night game that he would be out for significant time. My reaction then was we are screwed!!!! I said it to everyone who knew me and my allegiance to Patriot Nation the entire week I watched Brady at Michigan I was not impressed and I felt doomed (we really weren’t that great before Bledsoe went down in my humble opinion). But then a funny thing happened on that trip to Mordor Brady took us all the way to our first Lombardi Trophy that year! Now, I find myself in similiar surroundings I really don’t believe Cassel can serve up a little of history repeating but we have a better TEAM around him than Brady had in 2001. So, maybe just maybe we could at least make a playoff run. The next couple of weeks are going to be excuciating for me personally because of how emotionally tied I am to this organization. An ACL takes time to come back from I tore mine in my right knee in 1991 and it took almost 2 years for me but I am not a super athlete with around the clock medical personnel and trainers so it won’t take him that long but it will probably won’t be this season. I wish Tom all the luck of a speedy recovery because I firmly believe he is the single straw that stirs that teams drink.

Good to hear from you Dale, sorry about your loss. You make a good point about the team around him. Week Division just became a race.
