Patriots not using Madden ‘09 Playbook | More NFL

FootballJabber.com NFL NewsThe big question this week seems to be what the Patriots offense is going to be able to do now that Tom Brady is gone and Matt Cassel is running the show.  Most reports say that they are not going to change the offense.  Why would they say different?  I guess they won’t be telling teams, “Don’t bother spending all those hours on us in the film room because we are going to be using the Run Heavy playbook from Madden 09….”

Anyway, here is what Doug Flutie has to say on the situation…

“I think the world of Matt and I think he can handle it,” said Flutie. “He knows that system and he can make all the throws. So I don’t think you change anything, but you may limit it somewhat because he hasn’t run all the stuff that Tom has before.”

Another major topic that has runoff from this is how it effects the whole AFC East Division.  Check out this Sun Herald story for more on that.

Word is that the Tom Brady injury could cost fantasy football owners $150 Million!

Steelers fans have been giddy over the whole Brady injury, The Post-Gazette says “Not So Fast…”

The Browns Defense in need of a quick fix before the Steelers?  Ya think?

Braylon Edwards says that Donte Stallworth’s injury won’t detract from the offensive plans.  to be honest, the original plan should have been to go into every week assuming Stallworth would not be there.

New England Patriots v Minnesota Vikings

Joe Flacco is getting another start in Baltimore…why not?

Chris Simms has a new backup role with the Titans.

The Texans face an important showdown with the Ravens.  You don’t want to drop to 0-2 in the AFC South.

Eddie Royal is a big story for the Broncos this week.  What a monster first game for a rookie.

Redskins QB, Jason Campbell likes the shotgun formation.  Who doesn’t like a headstart in a foot race?

Tavaris Jackson looks inconsistent to those at The Star Tribune.  Did they miss last season?

Lions fans are pissed…again.

Apparently desperate for a story the week after a big win against the Colts, The Chicago Sun-Times talk about where Rex Grossman’s head is at. (Your not really going to read this are you?)

Michael Turner certainly did not disappoint when he was finally given a chance to shine for the Falcons.

“I was very excited,” Turner said. “I wanted to show the world what I had. And I wanted to test myself to see what I had. It was my first game really being a starting running back in this league.”

Apparently Jeff Fisher had reason to think that Vince Young may be losing it when sending the cops to look for him.

“We can never be too careful sometimes, and sometimes you can’t jump to conclusions. You have to wait on information and be patient,” Fisher said. “The information I had didn’t afford us any patience.”

Marshall Faulk is not shy while dissecting the Rams…

“Decisions have to be made. Do you blow it up, where do you go, what do you do? I mean, players that have had big time success, we’re talking Pro Bowl caliber players: Marc Bulger, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace, Steven Jackson. They look like they don’t belong in the league. And it’s not because they can’t play. You’re not going to tell me that. I’m not believing that they all of a sudden can’t play in this league.”

The Cowboys have moved to the top of the NFL Power Rankings at NFL.com, with good reason.

At ESPN too…

Saturday Night we will be discussing the NFL and some Fantasy Football. Go by this link and you can set a reminder! It will be mostly painless.
