Houston Texans Quarterback, Matt Schuab, was one of the most sought after backup Quarterbacks for three seasons when he was in Atlanta. Houston paid up and brought Schaub to town in 2007, but were not seeing much return on their investment for his first two seasons. Finally, in 2009 Matt Schaub became the Quarterback that both the Texans and fantasy football fans had been waiting for.

In his first full season Schaub showed that he can be one of the top QBs in this league. Seeing career highs in most statistical categories, Schuab had also shown that he can be one of the top fantasy football Quarterbacks as well.

The big bash on Matt Schaub is the fact that he only has one full season in front of him. After taking over the starting  job in Houston, Schuab only put eleven games together in each of his first two seasons there. Now, this isn’t to say that the man is really injury prone. He wasn’t tripping over his own feet, protection plays a role as well. There is no way of really knowing if Schaub will make it through the season uninjured…there also isn’t anyway of knowing if he won’t.

Things to like about Schaub. He threw two or more TDs in ten games and was only shut out twice. Nine three hundred yard games. He throws the ball to Andre Johnson. Owen Daniels may be back. They might have a running game.

Here is what we personally love about Schaub. There are usually at least three owners using an early pick on Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning. Sit back and don’t take a QB yet. You could see Tom Brady and/or Tony Romo go next. While others were using early picks on QBs you are drafting RBs and WRs.

While his stats may not reflect the top three or the safety of their durability, an owner that picks up Schaub in the 4th or fifth round may only be giving up a few TDs, but fielding more points at other positions than those owners that used an earlier pick on QB. That sounds like a win to us!

Matt Schaub’s Average Draft Position is at the second pick in the fourth round, ranked 6th for QB ADP. As mentioned, we love the idea of getting Schaub as the fourth QB, let alone the sixth.

Matt Schaub currently ranks at #5 in our Quarterback Redraft Rankings.

Fantasy Points standard scoring, .04 points per 1 yard, 4 points per TD, -2 INT,.1 per 10 yards rushing, 6pt per TD.
