Can a Man Attend 35 NFL games in 1 Season?

June 5, 2008 by Lee · 1 Comment

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a fellow from London named Adam. He told me a little about a trip he was going to take this year that involves attending 35 NFL games in one season. I found the idea fascinating. What NFL fan wouldn’t love to pull this off? Adam and I had a sit down (each on our own computers on opposite ends of the world) for a little Q&A on this football trip that would be a fantasy for any of us.

New Look and New Forums for the Football Jabber

May 24, 2008 by Lee · 2 Comments

There has been a pause in the posting in the last week while some dolling up of the place has been going on.  Football Jabber has taken on a different appearance both for the main site and the forums.  You can now find a little more separation between the NFL, Fantasy Football, and College Football categories.  Easier to find the Jabber and it looks prettier as well.  If your reading this in an RSS Reader (thank you for subscribing) stop by and have a look.

The new forums are up…come by and register.  Talk some football,  ask some fantasy advice from our knowing members, join or get someone to join a fantasy league, use your wit to entertain.  They were just opened up so there are not a lot of members right yet, get in on the ground floor!

Football RSS Reading Made Easy

February 25, 2008 by Lee · 2 Comments

Your a football fan, right? You have heard of RSS, right? There is a chance your reading this in an RSS Reader right now (if you are, thanks for subscribing…if not, read on and please subscribe). RSS (Really Simple Syndication) has become my best friend as a football fan, fantasy football owner, and blogger. Some people though have not jumped into it yet. I know, huh?

The beauty of the RSS Reader is that it brings the stories your looking for to you. As I typed that I received a notification that a new story came in on mine. Time is something we can all afford to save and when your surfing for football related news it helps to have all the up to date info in one place rather than out looking for it. What am I getting to you ask?

There are several options to choose from when looking for a reader. A new RSS reader has come to my attention that is for the football junkie. This reader is perfect for the football fan that has not yet jumped on the RSS wagon. One of the things that I have heard people say when asked why they don’t use a reader is that they are not very good with computers and don’t know what to do with an RSS Reader. This one is as simple as downloading it. It comes with feeds built in so if you don’t know how to add them you can use it as is. Adding them is really not very difficult once you get the ball rolling.

Simply go and download the reader. It comes with RSS feeds for some of the mainstream sites and the option for you to choose feeds at your leisure for any of the 32 NFL teams. It has a notification that will let you know if an updated story has come in from one of your feeds (this can be turned on or off).

Jump over and have a look at all the features whether your new to RSS or just looking for a new reader. It also has several options for music, podcasts, searching news, blogs and message boards, movies and videos. It’s pretty awesome. I did a search for NFL Draft videos and tons of videos came up. Right in the reader I was able to watch a Chris Johnson highlight video!

Advantages for the enduser

  • Supports RSS 0.9, 0.91, 1.0, 2.0 and ATOM
  • Configure, add and delete your own RSS Feeds
  • Personalised information- and mediastream
  • Search in a large quantity of news, information, videofiles, audio and images
  • Supports a large offer of formats (avi, mpeg, mp3, wav, doc, pdf, jpg etc.)
  • User-friendly interface
  • Be the first to know the recent Footballnews of different RSS Feed
  • 100% Free! , virus, spam and spyware free!

If your one of those that have been afraid to try this techy type thing, be afraid no more! With the built in feeds you don’t have to do anything but read up on your fantasy players as the news comes to you. Read more

NiFTy-TV to show Free Football Online

February 7, 2008 by Lee · 4 Comments

NiFTy-TV is taking those hard to see sporting events online! It already broadcasts some minor league hockey, MMA, baseball, and football. This last week it announced a partnership with the Arena Football developmental league, the af2.

“We are pleased to partner with the af2 to bring their 2008 season to fans nationwide,” said Marcus Morton, president of NFT. “Our technology is a great way for af2 and other sporting event content providers to expand their fan base.”

They said you wouldn’t last af2. The Arena Football League’s little brother turns nine years-old this season. Despite playing in locations like Moline, Amarillo, and Albany, the league is still giving football fans and their families cheap entertainment. Season tickets can go as low as $64, and it’s not uncommon for a single game cheap seat to be less than going to a movie. Of course the league has had financial troubles and keeping a team alive with only eight home games and under 10,000 fans per game, it can be tough. The new agreement, if marketed right, could do wonders for exposure.

The af2 fans will be able to watch watch their teams free online starting in the 2008 season. This would have been a hell of a tool for me to catch the Quad City Steamwheelers when I lived in Texas. It’s not clear which games are going to be broadcast yet as it has not yet been announced by the league.

Broadcasts are planned to begin with the league’s opening night on March 28, 2008 and continue through the ArenaCup Championship. A complete broadcast schedule will be posted on www.af2.com as soon as it becomes available.

This brings me to a thought. If the All-American Football League does not find a TV home for it’s first season, could NifTy-TV be a short term answer? I’m still thinking that the emerging VERSUS Network would make a good home for it, although the season is coming up in two months and nothing has been put together. Partnering with NTV could get it (and NTV) some exposure in what has to be the hardest sport to start a league up in. Again, like mentioned with the af2, if marketed right.

Countdown to the Lingerie Bowl!

Lingerie Bowl refs

There is another big game coming on Feb. 3rd. The annual Lingerie Bowl is returning, this time in the same city as the actual Super Bowl. I have been as a big of a fan as you can be (for a guy who has not watched outside of You Tube) for a couple years now.  What is not to like about babes in underwear playing football. Yes, there is the chance of a slip moneyshot, as they have happened in years past. Edge of your seat stuff, huh?

Lingerie Bowl

Here is a little rundown from Wikipedia to lick your chops to…

The Lingerie Bowl is a controversial pay-per-view show that airs live during the halftime of the Super Bowl as an alternative halftime show. The show features a game of full-contact American football with scantily-clothed female models as players. It first aired during Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and broadcasts continued for 20052006. It was originally sponsored by the American automobile manufacturer Dodge, but they withdrew after criticism of the show was made. The players in the game wear short shorts, a sports bra and some protective gear. The presentation is produced by Horizon Productions and is not affiliated with the NFL.

In honor of these Gridiron Babes you can find videos HERE on our video page.  There will be the entire Lingerie Bowl III, broke up into two parts, and the Beyond the Glory short.

Over/Under on Fox mentioning Jessica?

January 13, 2008 by Lee · 3 Comments

I cannot find anything on Bodog on this, but if it’s there it’s pretty funny. Neil Best at Newsday.com says that there is an Over/Under of 6 1/2 for the times that Fox mentions Jessica Simpson during the Giants vs. Cowboys game. Too bad Neil didn’t provide a link, might have got in on some of the action. Wonder if the Fox people have got in on it and will give the talking heads a number they have to cap for mentioning her.

If the Cowboys do make the Super Bowl it will be the first time that the woman in the stands was shown about as much as her man on the field since Brenda cheered on Kurt Warner. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that people will be annoyed, but not as annoyed with having to view Jessica over Brenda.
