IDP Scoring and Comparison

July 8, 2008 by Lee · 2 Comments

Fantasy Football with Individual Defensive Players (IDP) is on the rise.  Some of the traditional fantasy footballers do not want to make the jump.  Not wanting to make the jump is different than not knowing how to make the jump.  We have found that some Owners and Commissioners would like to make the change and begin using defensive players but the unknown scares them off.  For the Football Jabber Fantasy Football Strategy Playbook today we will look at setting up scoring for your league and compare how some of the defensive players match up to offensive players to give you a better idea of a players value when drafting.  To get more of an idea on the basics there is a link to an earlier Football Jabber article at the bottom of the page that will be helpful. Fantasy Football Auction Prep

June 27, 2008 by Lee · 6 Comments

The Fantasy Football Auction.  So great they say that you will never want to go back to a fantasy football draft again.  Pure edge of your seat, adrenaline pumping, laugh in the face of your buddy excitement from start to finish.  Everyone has an equal shot at every player on the board.  Your in on every pick, no more waiting around.  You have more control over your team than letting the league dictate who falls to you.  Yes, the Auction can be all these great things but can also be a big pain if you are not prepared. Fantasy Football Tip of the Day#6

Would you agree that one of the most important things in drafting a fantasy football player is the time they are going to see on the field? Seriously (I heard a big “Well DUH…” through my speakers) this is pretty important. We know who all the studs are but later in the draft, especially in deep drafts, you need to know who is going to see the field. If your watching for potential sleepers before the draft or even in-season, you need to know who is getting set up to take the field. One twisted ankle of a so, so, fantasy baller can put the next surprise, breakout, fantasy sleep on the field…which brings us to the link of the day.

Fantasy Football Tip #5

June 7, 2008 by Lee · Leave a Comment

One of the pains of running a fantasy league can be collecting the money from the owners (Disclaimer-Not talking gambling here, we are only collecting to pay for the league ;) ). It can be a pain for both the person collecting the money and the people that have to pay. Let’s be honest, most people that are hanging on to the money over the course of the season may have to protect it from a significant other who may have access to the account it is stored. On the end of the payee, your banking on one person to hold on to this cash.  It appears that there may be an online solution that has Fantasy Football specifically in mind.

Fantasy Football Tip of the Day #4

June 6, 2008 by Lee · 2 Comments

We pretty much know when a Running Back is talented, right?  Many Fantasy Football owners draft a RB on name and reputation of past performance.  Why not have a little more of an edge on draft day and take into consideration the Offensive line that the runner is lined up behind?  For example, we know that Larry Johnson is a pretty decent RB.  He has a reputation for past performance.  What we also have learned is that he is running behind one of the worst O-Lines in the league.  Of course this comes into play when drafting a QB as well.

Fantasy Football Tip of the Day #2

June 4, 2008 by Lee · Leave a Comment

Last year around this time I shared a tip with a fellow that is in a few of my leagues.  Let’s call him Fantasy Football Joe.  Joe was looking for a way to save time while finding news on the players that were on his team.  An RSS reader was not an option for Joe because he had convinced himself  that he was too old for that new tech-like stuff.  So then it dawned on me that I already used a site that would be perfect for Joe…one of my biggest rivals.
